Hungary’s election is not just a domestic vote — it’s a geopolitical test for Russia.
For the Kremlin, Viktor Orbán represents one of the last reliable gateways to influence inside the EU. Losing him would further accelerate Russia’s strategic isolation in Central and Eastern Europe.
And this comes at a time when Moscow is already facing a steady erosion of its global network — weakened positions in Syria, growing uncertainty around Venezuela, and increasing pressure on Iran.
That’s why we should expect intensified efforts: money, disinformation, and political pressure aimed at shaping the outcome.
With election day on April 12, the stakes are not only Hungarian — they are global.
