I welcome the speed with which we have agreed on this programme. Previous defence programmes were unnecessarily slowed down by politicking and interinstitutional fights. With AGILE, we have shown to citizens and industries that European legislative action can be swift and constructive. Small defence companies with big ideas should not face the biggest barriers. That is exactly why we are negotiating AGILE - to speed up support for disruptive technologies, to cut red tape, and help Europe's most innovative defence solutions reach the market. AGILE should not only be the programme's name, it should be the way the programme works.
