One of the most important parts of my work as a Member of the European Parliament is making the European Parliament more accessible to the people who create jobs, innovate, and drive Europe’s economy forward.
I am pleased that we have been able to consistently strengthen the dialogue between the European Parliament and small and medium-sized enterprises across Europe. Yesterday, as part of the SME Connect network, we welcomed a group of 30 entrepreneurs from across the European Union to discuss the challenges they face and how their practical experience can help shape better European legislation.
Our discussion focused on barriers within the Single Market, international trade agreements, and concrete ways to reduce unnecessary administrative burdens. Listening to those who deal with these issues every day is essential if we want EU legislation to be practical, effective, and supportive of growth.
I firmly believe that cutting red tape, improving the functioning of the Single Market, and strengthening Europe’s competitiveness are not just political slogans. They are tangible steps that save businesses time, reduce costs, encourage innovation, and allow entrepreneurs to focus on what they do best: growing their companies and creating jobs.
Thank you to everyone who participated in this open and constructive discussion. Meetings like these help ensure that European policymaking remains connected to the real needs of businesses and citizens.
