My next two days in New York City: meetings with private investors to discuss why sustainable development underpins global stability - and how we can act together through the 🇪🇺 Global Gateway Strategy. After representing the EU at the World Bank’s Development Committee in Washington, my team and I have arrived in New York to meet leading investment firms. As a former banker, I know the private sector commits only when three basics are in place: stability, predictability, and clear, fair rules. That is exactly how we structure Global Gateway projects - blending loans, guarantees and grants, focusing on development impact, and insisting on transparent governance. Global stability is in everyone’s interest, including business. Well-designed projects deliver on both fronts: they are commercially viable and they boost human development and resilience in partner countries.
