As Europe, we 🇪🇺 account for roughly 16 percent of global GDP, but provide 42 percent of the world’s Official development assistance. That’s a substantial contribution - and one we should leverage more effectively to reflect both our values and interests. Today at the FAC Development, I emphasized the need for close collaboration with Member States to ensure that our development policies are effectively coordinated and aligned with our external policy. It is clear that we must strengthen our Team Europe approach while also developing robust Team Nationals - such as Team Poland, Team Finland, and Team Czechia - to maximize our collective impact.
